CHRONIC
FATIGUE
Symptoms – A continual feeling of exhaustion.
CAUSES -
Fatigue is a symptom pointing to other problems: It is not a disease of itself. Chronic fatigue is generally caused by a
high-fat and refined carbohydrate diet, along with emotional stress. Any of the following only adds to the
exhaustion: drugs, caffeine products,
smoking, alcohol, poor eating habits.
Chronic fatigue
can forewarn of an undetected problem such as anemia, hypoglycemia, diabetes,
allergies, malabsorption of nutrients, candidiasis, poor circulation,
hypothyroidism, Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), mononucleosis, or cancer
It can also be
caused by weight loss: obesity; and, if characterized only by a lack of energy,
boredom.
NATURAL REMEDIES
·
Obtain adequate rest,
exercise, and well-balanced diet.
·
Deficiencies of vitamin B complex, vitamin C (2,000 mg), vitamin D (1,000 IU) , or iron (50 mg) may cause fatigue. Also needed:
vitamins A (1,000 IU) pantothenic acid (50 mg), vitamin B12
(1000 mcg), folic acid (5 mg), iron (50 mg), calcium (2,000
mg) and magnesium (1,000 mg). Acidophilus
is very helpful in improving
digestion and the production of certain B vitamins in the bowel.
·
Exercise everyday outdoors. Try to induce some perspiration,
·
Many experts agree that a
vegetarian diet can greatly reduce chronic fatigue.
·
Helpful herbs include American ginseng lavender, rosemary, sweet
flag, pasque flower.
·
Combining several antiviral herbs has been successful in
many cases. Select several from among goldenseal, echinacea, licorice, lemon balm and ginger. Make a tea using a tsp. or two of 2 or 3
of these, and drink a cup 2 or 3 times
day.
·
Wheatgrass juice is recommended for
fatigue.
·
Water therapies are
helpful: ice-cold footbaths, daily morning barefoot grass walks, alternative hot
and cold showers, “salt glow” skin rubs,
and a dry friction rub with a skin brush.
